That Perfect Rest

Sleep is something that comes automatically to a healthy body. It is a natural part of our life and should come easy to us. It is our reward for a faithful day of hard work and service. It is during our rest periods and our sleep that our body will heal itself from the damage of all the days' stresses. Sleep directs every part of our body to repair and restore itself bringing healing to our body parts. When this isn't happening for us, it is usually because we are not living the way God intended for us to live our life out. His ways bring restoration, healing, and health!

Both extremes, too much or too little sleep, will bring imbalance. When there is unbalance in our bodies, it is a sign that something in our lifestyle needs to be redirected and changed for the better. This doesn't happen with the use of a pill or drugs. Remember, sleep and rest are something the body does naturally. Sedatives, painkillers, diet pills, and the like are merely hiding the problem. Don't allow any of these or other drugs to become a way of life for you. Set a goal to get well and be free of all your medications. Choose the real thing for life!

There are sleep stealers. They are things like worry, fear and anxiety to name the top three. Toxins in your body also will hinder your sleep. Sleep defined by one dictionary is "the unconscious state or condition regularly assumed by man and animal during which the activity of the nervous system is almost entirely suspended and the recuperation of the body takes place."*

Learn how to rest your body. Get your sleep. Take vacations! Draw apart from the world for a time of refreshing your entire body whether it is one day a month, one week every couple months, or several weeks at a time during the year. Your body, soul and spirit need it regularly!People today, myself included, need to balance work and play. When you get away, it seems as though you can see yourself and your world in a whole new way - God can speak to us better... no, we can hear Him better! We are able to see what's out of balance or what we're doing wrong, and right, and continue in the good and get rid of the bad and out of balance.

More About Fresh Air and Sunshine

Left to man's own devices and plans, we will shut God's natural ways out of our lives. It may be unintentional or out of ignorance, but it doesn't work. In the case of sunshine, light, whether in the spiritual or physical realms darkness will bring death whereas light gives life!

For many years now man has increasingly left out natural light in their daily lives by replacing it with artificial. We've even gone so far as to leave windows out of our buildings! Architecture has changed to the dark side of things supposedly to help the human being out only to discover now that they need to let the light in. Opening up the structures they build whether offices or homes by placing more windows in them or larger windows in them has proven to lighten up and relax the people who operate or live in them! It has been proven that children have lower academic levels because of school buildings that have no windows. The same is so hospitals. God knows we need light and He gave us the sunlight.

Sunlight is medicine. It heals. Life comes from the sun. Just watch a plant grow or a garden blossom. We are like the plant. We need to the sunlight! Think of activities that will get you outdoors. Ten minutes outdoors can make a difference; 20 or 30 minutes is even better. The best times for being out in the sun are early in the morning until about ten and then again in the late afternoon. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. is the worse time of day for being in the sun as this is when the rays of the sun are much more intense and will be more damaging to the skin.

Even if you have to write "time in the sun" on your calendar or on your to-do list daily so that you will remember to do it, spend time in the fresh air and sunshine! Make a choice for life!

Fresh Air and Sunshine

These are two principles for health! We have talked some about fresh air and what you can do especially for your lungs. Deep breathing exercises! You can do this even when you are sitting at a desk or walking around! Get that oxygen flowing!

Our next principle goes hand in hand with fresh air and that's sunshine. Get out in it! Not for hours necessarily because you don't want to burn, but for at least 20 minutes a day. This is a natural way to provide your body with Vitamin D. Sunshine also lowers blood pressure, lowers our resting heart rate, helps destroy funguses and yeast infections, triggers our bodies to store glycogen, lowers our overall blood sugar, relieves our stress and relaxes us, and it strengthens our immune system.

Did you know that our bodies have built-in protection from the dangerous parts of the sun's radiation? Melanin is a pigment that healthy skin produces when exposed in the sun. Common sense is always needed when out in the sun -moderations should be exercised, but get some sun daily for your best health! Healthy doses of sun are essential for vibrant health!

What about clean air?

Speaking of clean water as we did yesterday, what about clean air? It's hard to come by these days. I live up in the mountains and away from a big city where there are things like smog and a horrendous amount of particles and chemicals that make up our air. Pollutants in the air are harmful and hard on the body as we breathe them in daily. Believe it or not even in our own homes there is pollution to be found and it is a threat to our health.

When we breath, we intake whatever is in the air into our bodies and into our cells. Remember our cells? We want to restore unhealthy cells and produce healthy cells! We need oxygen and we need to breathe so what do we do?

The best we can. Unless you're a rocket scientist and can figure something out worldwide, we keep on breathing - hip-hip hooray! - And go about taking in the oxygen in the air we have available to us. Oxygen will invigorate and energize your cells along with what is known as cell metabolism.

Keep in mind that raw fruits and vegetables are oxygen-rich foods and we need to be eating our veggies! The lungs need to be filled with fresh air and not starved. Taking deep breaths and exercise is good for you. Purposely throughout your day take time to breath in deep and hard and then expel that breath slowly. It will wake up your brain cells better than any caffeine drink will! With enough oxygen you will also find that disease and sickness can become more manageable and your body is more at rest. Do all you can to breath easy and get out in the fresh air with some invigorating exercise and smile... don't just watch others at work and play through a window pane. Snow or shine the weather is fine for some fresh air on a daily basis. All this and you're a healthier you!

Cool, Clear, Clean Water

Water is absolutely essential for your survival! Almost every part of your body needs it to function and live. Unlike food where you can go weeks without it, you can only go a few days without water. The nutritional rule is: 8 8-oz. glasses of water a day. Why, you may ask?

"The average male needs approximately 2,900 milliliters of water per day (12 8-oz. cups) to maintain hydration. The average female needs approximately 2,200 milliliters per day (9 8-oz. cups). Solid food can provide about 1,000 milliliters (4 cups) of water per day. Need for fluids can dramatically change when considering different climates, varying levels of exercise, age, etc."*

How do you know if you are dehydrated or not? "An easy way to determine whether you are receiving enough fluids is to check the color of your urine. If it is darkly colored, you are most likely dehydrated. Except for first thing in the morning, your urine throughout the day should be light yellow to clear. An exception to this rule is if you are taking vitamins, since vitamins can impact color of your urine. Slowly increasing your fluid intake is important as it allows your bladder to accommodate more liquid."* Otherwise, you may find yourself in the bathroom every hour on the hour, so increase fluids in your body slowly. In other words, don't go from drinking none or one glass a day to all eight glasses! Slow intake is essential to restoring balance and health in the body.

If you think you can tell that you are dehydrated by how thirsty you are, think again, as your body often times is already 2% dehydrated before your thirst kicks in!

It may seem boring at first, but stick to water for fluids. There are so many choices on the market today but most are loaded with calories, additional sugar, and will increase sweet craving when artificial sugars are present. Make your choice cool, clear, clean water. This small change in your lifestyle can make a big difference in your health!

Like our foods, our water sources today have changed tremendously. Municipal water supplies add chlorine and other toxic substances to our water for purification of bacteria, yes, but not good for the body, water wells today take in pesticides and other "esticides" that aren't good for our bodies either. So, good, you've been drinking bottled water now for years, right? All bottled waters are not the same. Many are natural spring waters and have these same chemicals or these same chemicals have been added to the water for the same reasons!

"Distilled water is the most reliable source these days for clean drinking and cooking water. It is produced by boiling water and condensing the steam in a cooling coil that drips the water into a collector. Distilling water removes most harmful chemicals and pathogens because they aren't take up into the cooling coil with the steam; they're left behind in the boiler. Besides being free of contaminants, distilled water has the added benefit of being the best solvent for cleansing body tissues and joints because it has no suspended solid particles. Remember, by eating your raw, live vegetables and fruits you will get some of your necessary water intake. That's the best thing! The next best thing is to sip on a glass of water all day long. Back to the Bible

Fasting

Did you know your body talks to you? Have you listened to your body lately? Maybe you don't understand what your body is trying to tell you. You know the sounds and affects your body gives you when you've over eaten. It gurgles and tumbles and grumbles. And how about when you're just plain hungry? Your stomach grumbles and growls. The rest of your body does what your stomach does. It talks to you. Sickness and disease are another way your body is talking to you. Are you listening? Did you hear? What are you doing about it?

Most the time we simply cover up the symptoms with some sort of food or a pill. The body still cries out for help. Don't ignore your body's talk. A good cleanse is a good start because most of the time our body is simply overloaded with toxins and wants to rid itself of them, that's all. If you're going to detox then why not fast? It will bring relief and your body will thank you.

Fasting will turn your life and your health around. Fasting allows your body to heal by giving it a time to rest. We often prolong our illnesses by eating wrong, going back to work too soon and not getting enough rest when necessary. Rest is actually one of the principles for a healthy lifestyle that we will talk about later on but with fasting comes a "body rest".

Now this will sound a little funny after talking about resting your body with a fast, but fasting will also boost your energy. So, with the rest it's also an energy booster! You see, once your body has rid itself of all the toxins and junk, it's rejuvenated and ready to go! So let's dump the waste and get on with it!

There are total fasts and partial fasts and water fasts and juice fasts or vegetables only fasts and even TV fasts! Yes, try getting away from the TV for three days or a week or more!

Total fasts are not recommended. This would mean placing nothing in your mouth for whatever allotted time period and this is not good for the body. Your body needs to have something put in it - at least two quarts of water a day to sustain life! A human being can only live a few days without water.

A water fast can be very severe and is generally not recommended. With this fast you cannot do much else but the fast itself. Water fasting weakens the body. Do not attempt a water fast without first consulting with your doctor.

Juice fasting is the best kind of fast to go on. You are able to nourish the body and still cleanse the body at the same time with a juice fast. This makes it very beneficial and less strenuous on the body. It doesn't hurt to check with your physician before beginning any fast. The Great Physician knows best, of course!

A fast can be as simple as skipping one meal (especially for those of you who have never fasted before) or three or seven days in a row of not eating. Very few people do longer fasts, however, the Bible tells us of some forty-day fasts. Start slowly. This is to benefit your body not destroy it!

In the Book of Daniel, Chapter One, you can read about his fast. He refused to eat the delicacies or rich foods or wrong foods and was proven a healthier specimen when the test was over. He ate his vegetables that's all! He's also the one who lived through being thrown in the lion's den. Remember that from Sunday school?

A variety of juices are recommended along with water. This is so your body will get various vitamins and minerals and be well nourished. Get creative with your juices. I found a blended cauliflower soup on a tea box one time when I was fasting and it was just the boost I needed at the time. It was also delicious! When I fast for health I also fast for spiritual reasons as well because I believe the two go better together. One time when I was doing a fast this way I became very week but my reason for fasting spiritually was very important for me not to break my fast... so I sought the Lord and He brought me to His table, communion. One small cup of grape juice and a saltine cracker and being with the Lord gave me strength to finish my fast and reap huge rewards!

Take the next step... fast. Make it a yearly, monthly or weekly new lifestyle habit! You will be energized when you do!

What is life?

Going back to our Biblical foundation we see that we have just a little time before we vanish away... let's make the best of that time! Let's be satisfied with how we live, what we eat and how we take care of ourselves that we live a long and healthy life. Our blood being our life source we need to have clean, power-working blood!

Detoxification is a great cleaning for the body! You can purpose to detox. That process is called fasting. Doctors have people fast before a test or surgery, people fast to lose weight and there are spiritual fasts. Another fast is simply to cleanse the body of toxins! Detox does that for you as you change your eating choices to clean, living, nutritious foods. Juicing is a great means of establishing detox and doing a fast.

Fasting is a healthy, biblical lifestyle that's as old as Methuselah! Jesus fasted and he said for us to fast - not if we do it but when we do it! Spiritual fasting draws us closer to God and builds godly character. Physical fasting will cleanse the body - organs (there are specific fast that help specific organs, like the liver), our cells, and the blood! If you desire to experience the mighty power and supernatural presence of God in your life and want a good physical cleansing at the same time, combine the two fasts! While you juice and eat no solid foods, read your Bible and talk to God. With the right motives the two will work out marvelously for you!


Fasting in general is controversial. Some fasts are good while others can be very dangerous. Before you begin we'll discuss fasting methods that are healthy and good for you. More details on kinds of fasts and where to begin tomorrow.

Prosperity Choices

Best selling Author of the Bible Cure Series, Don Colbert, M.D. says in his book Toxic Relief, "Our prosperity as a nation has come at a price for Americans. After years of overeating and overindulgence, we are experiencing an epidemic of degenerative diseases... We didn't always eat this way. Former generations were some of the healthiest on the planet. As an agrarian culture, many of our grandparents lived much closer to the land. But today, our lifestyle is much too stressed and fast-paced, and as a result our diet suffers." He also says, "We may be actually starving from a nutritional standpoint while at the same time becoming grossly obese. The end result of this merciless abuse of our bodies is disease and death. Sadly, we really are digging our graves with our forks and knives! As a result of our overindulgences we have an epidemic of heart disease, atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, allergies, obesity, arthritis, osteoporosis and a host of other painful and debilitating degenerative diseases."

We are eating too much of the wrong stuff and although we are obese in our size we are starving our body of what it needs! Junk food doesn't hake it. A multivitamin or any supplement won't do it alone. We can't continue to eat the way we do with our Standard American Diet (SAD), which is a fallacy for the most part, or live on junk food and pills and think we're going to live long and healthy! Well, you may think that way, but you are ignoring the truth of the matter completely and deceiving yourself! You can't eat the way you want. You must learn to eat to live and not live to eat! Stop overeating. Stop choosing wrong foods. Stop the sugar, the fats, and the processed foods and begin to treat yourself and your body properly. Give your body the nourishment it needs to truly live long and healthy!

Stop and think about how you eat and make the positive changes today. Change the way you think about food and health; think differently about how you treat your body! Why are you eating? Eating is not a recreation. Eating is a necessity. Begin to eat for your health's sake! When you do there will be a great change. It won't happen overnight, but with your stick-to-it-iveness it will happen. Detox is part of the change. Juicing is a part of that change. Fasting becomes a way of life. There's more on the horizon of this adventure so I encourage you to keep committed. Remember to look for help in the Lord. He is your strength. There's life in the blood!

Beware of Detox!

Detox is going to happen when you begin to make the changes in your food sources that we have been discussing these past few weeks. Some will experience detox more than others. I myself had a mild detox when I changed my way of eating but on-the-other-hand; my husband had more of a detox with cold and flu-like symptoms. Detoxification can and will do that to you. Beware. These changes are a shock to your body! Don't let this scare you.

Your body is now going through the process of cleaning itself out from years of accumulated toxins and this will often produce some side effects. These symptoms range from headaches, nausea, rashes, fatigue, even pimples, to coughing up "crud," diarrhea or constipation, and feeling generally lousy for a time. It does pass. When it has passed you will feel so much better - better than you have felt in years!

The more the overload of toxins in your body the stronger a detox is on your body. Most times you won't even realize it and will be able to carry on with your normal activities but for others, watch out! The overload of toxins has to be released and when released rapidly with these changes, it will cause the affects mentioned above and you will find that you are somewhat uncomfortable for a while. You aren't sick! Don't go back to your old way of eating! Press through and move on and you will see the excellent results that follow detox!

You can cut back on some of those new changes that are causing the body to throw off the toxins so rapidly and slow down the inward cleansing process. To accomplish this, you simply reduce the amount of vegetable juice and raw food. You could add a little cooked food, like steamed vegetables or a baked potato to your main meal. This will allow the toxins to still come out but more gently and over a longer period of time. But don't stop all together as juices are vital to rebuild the body's cells. As our bodies start to heal in a particular area we sometimes experience more symptoms in that particular area than before the diet change. Again, beware.

Changing from the Standard American Diet of dead food to clean, living, and nutritious foods is in your favor - stick to it and reap the benefits of a restored, healthy body and new lifestyle!

Choosing a Juicer - Their Differences

Vegetable juices provide our cells with the most powerful building materials available so don't skimp when it comes to juicing!

The most popular but not necessarily the best juicer is the centrifugal juicer. These juicers are more popular because they are less costly than other types available. They will work for you but they don't exactly give you the best quality juice. These types of juicers have a spinning basket with knife-like blades. As the basket spins, the carrot is rapidly shredded and the juice is bombarded with oxygen causing oxidation. Think of an apple you've cut and set out on the counter awhile. The browning you see on the apple is the apple loosing nutrients caused by oxidation. The juice from a centrifugal juicer has no keeping power and must be consumed immediately. This is because of the oxidation that takes place in a centrifugal juicer. Thus, there is a rapid loss of nutrients and enzymes in the juice. You still will benefit from this type of juicer over having none and if you have one of these centrifugal juicers, don't throw it out, start juicing! However, you may want to save and purchase one of the others we will discuss next.

The Champion Juicer and the Green Star Juicer are two excellent choices. Juice from these two machines is longer lasting. The juice from the Champion Juicer can be stored for up to 24 hours and the Green Star Juicer juice for up to three days in the refrigerator, of course. This is very convenient so that you have your juice for the day or even the next day without having to juice every day. These juicers will last you decades whereas the centrifugal juicers do wear out with daily use year after year.

The Champion Juicer is a masticating juicer with spinning knife blades similar to the centrifugal but without the basket and with a smaller cylinder to keep down oxidation.

The Green Star Juicer is unique because it is the only juicer without a spinning basket or knife blades. It has two stainless steel gears. Rather than cutting up the food for juice, it presses nutrients out of the food with very little oxidation and greater keeping power. This juicer is capable of providing ten more ounces of juice for every five pounds of carrots.

I do believe it's always best to make the juice right before you are going to drink it, rather than making large batches and storing the juice for future use. That is another reason the centrifugal juicer is so popular. It's also somewhat easier to juice with and to clean. 1/3 celery juice, cucumber or other leafy green vegetable*

*Other suggestions instead of celery juice could be used such as kale, parsley and spinach. These are good sources of beta-carotene and very beneficial to the body. Parsley is also a good source for zinc as is ginger root and garlic.

Here's a recipe to help you juice with carrots and make it a little different:

Take a handful of parsley and add:
4 carrots (greens removed and peeled)
1 garlic clove
2 stalks of celery

And here's Popeye's Favorite

Take a small handful of spinach and add:
4-5 carrots (greens removed and peeled)
1/2 apple (seeded)

No More "I Don't Know"

You're learning. You do know now. You'll find out what you don't know by continuing in this adventure of having a healthy body and lifestyle. This is the beginning of much to come. Whether you are a Christian or not look around, we are suffering the same physical ails and breakdowns. Why? Because we are eating the world's diet in total ignorance! No more. We are getting smarter and making right choices to make a difference! Hallelujah! We are taking care of our bodies and nourishing our bodies with the proper fuel God intended and our bodies are now functioning the way God designed them to function whole and complete in His designed state.


As we concluded yesterday we were going to look at the super source of living fuel - the highest octane - the superior building material, raw vegetable juice! Let me whet your appetite for it today...

It is difficult for us to receive adequate nutrition in our food today due to the changes in our food, which have lowered the levels of nutrition available in our food. We have to admit it's not the Garden of Eden any more. We've come a long way, baby, but in the wrong direction. Juicing provides nutrients to the cellular level of the body. Juicing is the key to your diet and juicing will provide most of the power for internal cleansing and restoration of your body. Thus the case, by adding juicing to your lifestyle, a healthier you!

One pound of carrots produces approximately one 8-ounce class of juice. You've heard "an apple a day keeps the doctor away", right? Well I say "a carrot juice a day keeps the doctor away" because it builds the body in the proper way. Our how about this one: "milk, it does a body good". Nope. But this, "carrot juice, it does a body good". Now that's the truth. The juice from those carrots is taken throughout the body in the blood and flows to the 100 trillion cells as super fuel!

The most essential juice is vegetable juice. Vegetable juice can be carrot juice alone or a combination of carrots, celery, cucumber, or any other leafy green vegetable. Some may like to add an apple for taste but it is not necessary. Vegetable juice contains vitamins B, C, E, K, and beta carotene, along with calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and many other minerals and trace minerals. Beets are another good source to add to your vegetable juice. One caution for all vegetables applies; wash and/or peel your carrots and vegetables. And, organic is best.

100 Trillion Living Cells

Everything we put into our body is either cell-building material or cell-destroying material. We choose.

However, we who desire a healthy body keep in mind the good news. And, the good news is that because the God-made human body is able to heal itself, we can eat living foods and reverse the effects bad food has had on our body.

Living plant foods are the original source of nutrition that God gave us for our body and for that matter all life!

Each one of us has within our body approximately 100 trillion living cells. The key to a healthy body is found in the cells. Cells die and are replaced continuously and each new cell that replaces the old is totally dependent on the building material available within the body as well as the quality of that building material. This is what determines the quality of the new cell. Keep feeding those cells with poor quality fuel, building material, and you will continue to get poor quality cells. In fact, your cells continue in getting weaker and weaker with poor quality fuel. When you give your cells quality fuel, building material, it will produce quality cells and bring about a change that corrects itself for good! Hallelujah!

Your living foods are the proper fuel, building material that your new cells need when replaced. When this change is made on your part your cells will be stronger and healthier than the cells they are replacing and you will be a healthier you!

One super source for a superior building material is.... raw vegetable juices! We'll discuss these raw vegetable juices tomorrow.

The Caffeine Killer

Caffeine is a drug. It's the Christian drug. Don't laugh, you hear the Christian (and non-believers as well) say many times in a day, "Oh, I need my coffee!", "I need my chocolate!" or they go so far to say, "Caffeine, I need caffeine!" See, we even know that we're hooked, but we use it anyway! So let's investigate the killer food, caffeine...

Caffeine - Caffeine is a drug. It is an addictive drug. It is a toxic poison. The first time you consume caffeine your body wants to reject it, but no, we keep pouring it on until our body has to do something with it. Caffeine comes in all shapes, sizes and forms but the most familiar ones are coffee, soda pop, chocolate and some teas. This chemical has to find its place in the body when taken in and more than likely with its acidity it goes for the bones and will cause leeching of calcium to your bones. This contributes greatly to osteoporosis. It will also damage the lining of your stomach and cause damage in your liver and kidneys. Watch out, it's a killer!

So, having a healthy body and experiencing good health the way God designed it, take a responsibility on our part. We must learn to make right choices for a healthy body. We must learn to eliminate the killer foods in our diet that are poisoning us on a daily basis and causing great havoc to our bodies. Without the change in diet we choose to lose years off our lives.

Don't die a slow and agonizing death choose life! We will look at these miraculous self-healing, incredible bodies of ours tomorrow and how with proper fuel we can help correct most physical ails and bring our body back into a healthy state for a longer life!

What's next on the Killer Foods List?

You may have guessed it! Everything white! Our next item... white flour... why is that? Think about it a minute... Would you want to put something that looks dirty or gray or worse yet filled with specs that look like little brown bugs in your food? Mouth? The natural sugar cane, salt, and flour process eliminates all the nutrition and then after a bleaching process they put back what they call the nutrition in these so-called food items. Not. It's all artificial and chemical and non-organic for a person to eat yet they will label it "vitamin enriched"!

Let's look at our next killer food,
White Flour - Here's what the process is for our number one baking ingredient:*
Flour is made from wheat which should be good for you but not after this! The first thing they do with the wheat grain is strip off the outer shell (or bran) and because this is where it leaves little brown specs that may look like little brown bugs, the next thing they do is remove the wheat germ. The wheat germ is where the nutrition is but the wheat germ is also what gums up their machinery so we can't have that. Besides that, is goes rancid quickly and that isn't good for the product, as it can't sit on the shelf for any length of time until purchased. And, yes, they do realize what they are doing. No doubt. After all this what is left is what is called the endosperm, which they grind into a very fine powder and bleach it white. Adding the artificial, chemical laden nutrition into it they slap a "vitamin enriched" label on it and you buy it off your grocer's shelf to bake with. Wala! Now if you want something healthy you can buy the wheat germ and the bran at your local health food store!

So much for the white stuff, we'll look at caffeine tomorrow... another killer food...

More Killer Foods

Ouch, that bites - just the sound of it - killer foods... as we learned yesterday there's no good nutritional value in them because they're dead food and not living food so why do we eat them? Somewhere along the line we have been told they are good for us or it's the food we grew up with and it's a hard habit to break. Another reason is we believe what we're told and we don't read the labels! Somewhere along the line again someone got wise and said, 'let's put a nutritional label on our food,' for correctness to the public and they did and we trust "those" who say this and we trust the label being there so we don't read it. Our head says "they" know what they're talking about and we believe "them". Who are the "those", "they", and the "them"?

We hear so much and in regards to food we hear this is good for you and this is bad about the same foods; some say a little coffee or a little chocolate won't hurt you and others say it isn't good for you. No, it won't hurt you, you'll more than likely not feel any pain, but it could be killing you! I say you choose.

This is where our Biblical foundation we discussed earlier comes in. When you know the voice of the One in charge of your life you should listen to Him. Father does know best! So I say like I did with meat or any other animal product, eat it if you choose but whatever you are supposed to change or eliminate in your diet, do so. If you know that you eat too much sugar, stop it. If it's caffeine that keeps you going throughout your day, stop it or at least cut back. Choose to do the right thing to live a longer and healthier life. Just do something, start somewhere. You choose. Begin now, but do something to make a better lifestyle and healthier life for yourself in the remaining years you have beginning today... it's never too late to start!

Here's the rest of the story; our killer foods:

Processed foods - boxed, packaged, canned, jarred, and even frozen foods have been heated and treated and abused to where the nutrition value in those boxes, packages, cans, jars, and frozen foods are now dead food. They've been pre-cooked and now you're going to re-cook them! Dead food. Look at them as being embalmed; embalmed with chemicals, preservatives, flavor enhancers and other unknown compounds to give them a longer shelf life... but nutritional? That's questionable!

White Sugar - Sugar is one of the most popular dead and good-for-nothing killer foods. It does horrible things when eaten and digested through the body. Do you like your soda? Three sodas or more like one giant 32 oz today has the equivalent of 33 (or more) teaspoons of sugar! So go ahead, stop the sodas and just take your medicine early in the morning by the teaspoon full! Sugar is not only found in soda pop but in almost every product on the grocer's shelf today. Sugar enhances the flavor of products that have been manufactured and boxed, canned, packaged, jarred - you know - and we eat a ton of sugar daily! Literally I've found we eat on an average over 170 pounds a day of sugar per individual. Yes, we do. Try to stop eating sugar... it's hard. I have cut way back on my sugar but even to by a "box" of seasoning for a well-known salad dressing I simply enjoy having on my salads (and so I don't have to take the time to make my own salad dressing) I find it has sugar in it. Sugar contributes to an obese society, to heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, emotional problems, depression, ADD and ADHD, and numerous other ailments on the physical body.

White Table Salt - Also known as sodium chloride. This is used most often as an antiseptic and food preservative because salt is toxic to living things. It kills bacteria and anything else exposed to it. Great, right? So the problems is we've gotten use to using it and like the taste. Do you know your taste buds can change their likes and dislikes in 21 to 30 days? Go for it; try not using salt (or as much salt) and see if you don't make the change. Your taste buds will return to a natural state and true flavors of food will be a tastier treat for you. Here is why: we have simply developed an addiction to sodium, which causes food to seemingly be tasteless without it. Here's a little FYI (for your information): one teaspoon of salt contains approximately 2300mg - the recommended maximum daily intake for salt is 2400mg. Now hear this: one dill pickle has 1,428mgs of salt. I don't know about you, but I can eat three or four at a time. Processed cheese has 1,189mgs of sodium and a hot dog has 1,100mgs of salt in it!

Are you beginning to see the light? We need to check out the foods that are good for us and start putting them in our bodies and leave the dead ones alone. Let 'em rot!

Life from Life vs. Killer Foods

Perfection - that's God's goal for all of us. He wants His best for us. But now that I've hopefully helped you see a tiny little spark of light on the subject of food and especially the difference in dead food and living food, lets go deeper with the subject so that the spark is ignited.

George Malkmus, founder of Hallelujah Acres and author of The Hallelujah Diet, Experience the Optimal Health You Were Meant to Have, explains "life from life" for us according to Genesis 1:29 in his chapter on God's Way: Living Food. He says, "Genesis 1:29 is an amazing clue from our Creator about the fuel our bodies were originally designed to use. In the Garden of Eden, God revealed that all animals - including humans - were designed to take energy directly from plant life. That was the most direct path to transferring power from pure light into a form that would sustain life itself! Just think about it - the life-force in a plant is sustained by collecting sunlight via photosynthesis. That life-force is then transferred directly to the human's physical body that consumes the plant - like a flame passed from one candle to another. This is the simple yet brilliant way God designed to pass along the life-giving energy from one living thing to another in the form of living foods." At that you can shout hallelujah!

That helps explain our Biblical perspective, physical perspective and will help explain the killer foods list we are looking at today. The foods on this list are not good for our human bodies. These so called foods do the most damage to our bodies while producing the least benefit to the body when consumed,thus killer foods. Remember we're learning what the proper foods for our body should be so with that we should also know what not to eat and we'll start here.

We've somewhat discussed the first on the list and that is ANIMAL PRODUCTS, especially meat. The average American consumes well over 100 grams of protein a day, which is three to four times the amount nutritionists say is necessary. Again I quote from Dr. Malkmus, "Animal products are currently the cause of up to 90 percent of all physical problems experienced by people. The average person who consumes animal products puts into their body some 100 pounds of fat in one year... If you eliminate animal products from your diet, you eliminate the risk of experiencing a heart attack by 90 percent. If you don't consume animal products and you don't smoke, you reduce your risk of cancer almost completely." Now that's something to adhere to in our day and age, don't you think? I say this about your meat especially for those who say they can't give it up or that it's too hard to give up (which is really saying you don't want to give it up); eat your meat but take a clue here and don't eat 10 or 20 ounces of it a day, stick to the 2 to 4 ounces that are recommended! For some reason we tend to overdue everything and make it so complex in our lives as Americans. Lighten up, take a load off, eat less! However, just to let you know, I did give up meat about three years ago and I don't miss it at all and my body enjoys being healthier!

The hard part regarding animal products is not only your meat, but think about what else we eat that comes from animals... eggs, milk, cheese. Dairy products are just as dangerous to the body as meat. Take cow milk for example. did God intend for humans to be raised on cow milk? No. He gave women the milk they would need for nutritional needs of their babies. Cow milk was meant for baby cows. Our Creator has designed the proper fuel for every one of his species and their newborn offspring. There may be exceptions to the rule at times but not all the time. Cow milk is not designed to be food for humans. Get this, one egg yoke has the cholesterol of a whole pound of beef! Imagine that. And we wonder why we're getting fatter and less healthy. Dairy, cheese, and eggs will also cause physical problems in your body.

The rest of our killer foods list will include such things as processed foods, white sugar, white table salt, white flour, and caffeine. We'll get to those one at a time.

Today think on this, in fact, write it down on a piece of paper and tape it up somewhere where you can meditate on it daily:

Living Food= Living Fuel = Living Cells = Healthy Body
I can't prosper and be in good health without the proper fuel placed in my body!

Perfection

Now I know what you might be thinking that God gave us meat to eat after Noah's day and in the New Testament we are told all things are good for us. But wait a minute, please. Let's look at this from the Bible's writer(s). There again I believe God wrote the Bible... He used men, but He wrote it. You have a right to disagree about that and you may disagree on the following, but at least hear me out and then decide. Better yet! Try it and see for yourself! Why not, what would you have to lose? A few bucks spent on some food and some time? Do it for 30, 60, 100 days and eat only living food. See for yourself if you aren't physically better. Here are our answers to the above thinking:

What happened in Noah's day? I'll tell you. Mankind had gotten to a place of such evil that God didn't want to deal with man any more so he found one man and saved him and his family only and wiped the rest of mankind off the face of the earth! That left Noah and his family and they had to live on a boat with numerous animals for a lengthy period of time and care for all those animals during this time until the earth became dry again! Isn't that something to read about? How would you have liked to live it and be Noah or one of the members of his family? When you got off that boat you'd kiss the ground too (and maybe even build an altar and worship the Lord). You'd be hungry, too, and looking around at the earth mud laden and dead you'd ask God what you were supposed to eat too! Not to mention what they had to eat while on the boat! This is when meat entered into our world. Was it good for us? Must not be too bad; we've been eating it ever since. Was it God's best for us? No. It came after the flood. It came after the Garden.

Next question? Here's what people are thinking and it comes from Paul. He says in I Corinthians 10:23, "all things are lawful for me, but not all things helpful". Here's a note from the Spirit-Filled Life Bible on this verse through Chapter 11:1 (if you had kept on reading): "No created thing in itself is sinful, since everything belongs to God, but it is inconsistent to glorify God and hurt others." Or hurt yourself! We are Christian examples in a world that is deteriorating around us. Our food has changed over the past 50 years let alone over the past thousands! We now find it in a box or can and inside that box or can it has been totally processed to where I'm not sure you can really call it food. Read the labels. It may look to you like food or even your taste buds enjoy it, but what is it? Our meat isn't like it use to be right off the range now is it? Why are we living longer? Could it be all those additives and preservatives they are adding to all our food? Does that make it good for us? We definitely don't want to offend others in our choices of food and especially as a guest in another's home, but we do want to eat to live and when we eat we can also be an example of godliness and not worldliness to others.

God is perfection. His plan is perfect. His ways are perfect. Perfection began in the Garden of Eden where He first placed man and called him to work and eat the fruit of the land. Fresh, life-giving food. Perfect food for the perfect man whom He, God, had made. I want God's perfect plan for my life, how about you? Choose perfection. Choose living foods.

Cooked Food vs. Living Food

When food is cooked, which is what we have learned to do over thousands of years, cook our food (now we even "zap" it in the microwave, but we'll cover that another day); we are destroying the enzymatic activity of the food. The enzymatic activity of the food is where the life is in the food. Do this experiment if you never have before. Get some carrots, five to be exact.

Place the first carrot and cut about one and one half inches off the top of the carrot and place it in a dish/jar of water. Take a second carrot and boil it in water. The third take and cook in a steamer. The fourth carrot, place in an oven at say 250 degrees and cook it. Now take your fifth carrot and microwave it. You have cooked these last four carrots but I want you to take and cut off the top at about one and a half inches and place them in some water. Watch for a few days to see which of the five carrots grow.

Do the cooked carrots grow? No, they do not. You will find that only the carrot that has not been cooked remains alive and a living food.

The point for us is to change the fuel, which we are injecting into our bodies. When we change the fuel from our basic Standard American Diet of basically dead food to living and life-giving foods we are also bringing life into our physical bodies. God designed it this way in the very beginning if you will recall. He designed it this way because we are a living being. No dead food will ever be of help to a miraculous self-healing body that was designed by God. We need to be eating living food.

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." - Genesis 2:7

"And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food." - Genesis 1:29

Stop... ponder and reconsider...

Reconsider your daily food consumption habits, your diet, your medications, what stress level you have reached at this point in your life, the emotional imbalance or balance, choices you make on a daily basis, your biblical foundation...

can any of these be improved upon?

The healing power of living food will properly restore your body to a natural and healthy state if you will allow it to do so. God designed your body that way. It's time to stop abusing your body and put the proper fuel and tools together to eliminate the stress, pain and sickness on your body. You have a self-healing body.

Tomorrow we will begin a deep dive into the subject of living foods. Today, stop... ponder and reconsider... mediate on answers to the above questions and ask God where you are as you begin this journey. You may want to write these thoughts down so at the end of this journey you will have a written log of where you began and the miraculous results!

To Our Health - Without Any Sorrow

Let's begin with health and no grumbling, please. Sorrow is not prosperous and will only make you feel bad. To prosper in health we'll begin by looking at nine principles that will keep you on track and focused throughout the year... throughout a lifetime! This is not something we will be doing in January and dumping the rest of the year - this is it, it's your life! It's your health!

Eat right - no dead food! Stay connected and we'll discover the difference between dead food and living food!

Drink right - lots of cool, refreshing pure water. We'll also discover there is great value in juicing for a healthy body!

Eating and drinking we must allow for elimination and we'll find that with proper food and drink our elimination becomes more regular and pure. Hallelujah!

Breathe fresh air regularly. Clean air? In the Rim Country we can say our air is fresher than most and not clogged with pollutants like the metropolitan areas but there is hope for all as we learn to breathe in life.

Get some sun! Yes! We need a regular dose of sunshine daily to provide us with the energy and color needed in living! We just don't bake in it. There is a difference in basking and baking!

Here it is... exercise daily! Although this is one principle we often choose to eliminate in our daily routines, this is a major daily duty and one we need to learn to enjoy.

With all of this we couldn't live well without remembering to obtain the proper amount of rest we need. You will discover that the 8 hours a night "rule" works best for us all.

Let's get our emotions under control - no sorrow, no anger, no hate, no bitterness, no depression - whatever is it you have to deal with you must instead choose to REJOICE! Life is worth it when you look at it from an eternal, godly position! No stress. An emotional balance is what we are looking to create in our daily lives.

And as we began with a spiritual foundation we continue in it - The Word of God. It is in the Word we find our answer to every need, spiritual, physical, healing, emotional, relational, and financial and any other "ational" you want to add but having a biblical foundation is a must! If you haven't met my Jesus you must! He is my best friend in life!

This is it! We are off to a fantastic start!

Remember our foundational Scripture from III John 2. You may want to put this one to memory. When you do, I can guarantee you that it will be with you and give you the extra push when you want to quit or give up in this new adventure we're on together for 2010.

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things (everyday affairs) and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

FYI - as I read this morning again a devotional from a wise man, Jerry Savelle, I leave these words from him with you: "Meditating on key Scriptures during the day will keep your heart strong in faith and protect your mind from doubt. If you are not meditating the Word, you will not be strong in faith that you financial 'salvation' is going to manifest." ... or any other spiritual "salvation" manifestation for that matter. Amen.

Blessed

I once... or more than once... heard a gentlemen say you are blessed beyond measure. Blessed beyond measure would make me a rich woman! I've thought about that and discovered that I am blessed; very rich indeed. And, it comes with no sorrow. He showed me this in the Word. I believe it! Now that would mean prosperity in every and all my affairs!

Proverbs 10:22
